Jim and Mel were teachers. They lived modest, saved every dollar, and retired okay. Then Mel passed, and Jim was alone with a stack of statements and decisions he’d never had to make by himself. He wasn’t broke. He was terrified, asking the same question over and over: am I going to be okay, and who can I trust to help me? He trusted the wrong person, and it cost him the family farm.

Jo and Ray worked their whole lives. They weren’t rich, but they’d built a real nest egg. When it came time to retire, Jo’s biggest fear wasn’t the stock market. It was picking the wrong advisor. She knew one bad choice could undo forty years of saving, and she didn’t know who to trust with it. So like a lot of people, she froze.
